For two weeks this summer, the shores of Taghazout became more than just a surf spot.
They became a launchpad for new dreams!
Nearly 50 local children joined us as part of a special collaboration with Les Etoiles, a grassroots organisation dedicated to enriching young lives through creative and empowering activities.
This was our second summer running this project… and we’re just getting started.
Watching the kids encourage each other in the lineup, you could see how quickly those lessons were landing. They weren’t just learning to surf.
They were learning to belong.
To the ocean, to the community and to the future they’re shaping.
Let’s see how that all manifested!
Summer surf camp with local kids
Every morning, we were stoked to see the beach filled with energetic kids… all of whom were keen to grab boards, venture into the warm Atlantic and take their first steps into the world of surfing. How good!
Some had never set foot in the water. Most had never touched a surfboard. But guided by our talented team — headcoach Younes, along with Bahsine, Soufian and Ismail — they found their balance, both on the waves and within themselves.
Perhaps more importantly, though, they had heaps of fun!
With all donations going to Les Etoiles
This programme wasn’t a paid initiative. It’s something we offer for free each year, funded by the generosity of guests (like you!) and everyone who attends our community yoga classes every Saturday at Amouage. All donations go directly to support Les Etoiles.
From surfboards to wetsuits (though the water was warm enough for many to skip them), everything was provided.
The kids showed up with open minds and left with huge smiles, sandy toes and a fresh sense of self-confidence. As Les Etoiles put it:
“The children left the beach every day with big smiles, stronger confidence and new dreams in their minds.”
Helping the community. One wave at a time
This initiative is just one thread in a larger fabric of how Surf Maroc gives back. Whether it’s:
- Monthly beach cleans that protect the coastline
- Breathwork sessions for local women led by Leina
- Artisan showcases during our Amouage BBQ nights
- Or projects like our Moroccan Workshop series
We’re continually looking for ways to connect guests, locals and the landscape in meaningful ways.

Want to become part of Taghazout?
We’re lucky to call this place home.
Whether you’re staying at Amouage or Taghazout Villa, joining a surf coaching package, retreating at the Villa Mandala or renting a board from the Surf Maroc Shop, you’re part of something deeper than just a holiday.
You’re part of a story. Our story.
One where Taghazout isn’t just the backdrop. It’s the place where it all happens. We’ll leave the last words to our friends at Les Etoiles:
“You’ve helped us offer an experience that is both joyful and empowering, connecting them to their local environment in a meaningful way. It’s this kind of exposure and encouragement that can truly impact their personal development and widen their horizons.”
