Surf Maroc is looking for a motivated, hands-on, and experienced Assistant Hotel Manager to join our team at Amouage, our 26-room boutique hotel located in the heart of Taghazout.

Position

The Assistant Hotel Manager is responsible for assisting the Hotel Manager and/or Operations Director with the recruiting, training, motivating, developing and coordinating the activities of their location’s personnel to ensure effective Operation and excellent Guest Service. 

You will act as the primary point of contact and supervision for all Heads of Department but can also assure the liaison with the front line employees and provides overall leadership, supervision, and direction on strategic initiatives and operating standards to positively impact business results.

The Assistant Hotel Manager is responsible for all aspects to make sure that the location is running smoothly and making a profit. Some of the departments that an Assistant Hotel Manager oversees include the front desk, housekeeping, spa, human resources, and food service. 

You will also be in charge of making sure that the guests have a positive experience and will want to stay again. Part of this includes dealing with guests personally, including any complaints that arise.

You will report to the Hotel Manager and Operations Director.

    • Hands-on, able to step in to assist a team member or cover a gap
    • Outstanding leadership skills and great attention to detail
    • Effective oral and written communication skills. 
    • Outstanding ability to listen, communicate and work effectively with guests in high-stress and high-volume setting.
    • Computer-literate, able to learn and train others in the use of new technologies. 
    • Proven ability to consistently deliver results with minimal supervision
    • To be persistent: you need to get things done, even if that requires to keep following up and repeating 100 times the same thing
      
    • Previous experience in hotel or hospitality management is required
      

     
    Role

    The Assistant Hotel Manager has to have an excellent level of commercial awareness. You will be responsible for highlighting short/medium/long-term issues to the Hotel Manager and/or Operations Director and to help formulate solutions. 

    This position can also crossover into customer service and human resources. Along with needing the managerial and organisational skills. The Assistant Hotel Manager will also need to be good at dealing with people and be a great communicator.

    • • • • • Supervise work at all levels (guardian, kitchen and bar staff, receptionist, therapist, maids etc.) and set clear objectives
            • Share the Hotel Manager / Operations Director duties
            • Plan activities and allocate responsibilities to achieve the most efficient operating model
            • Manage budgets/expenses, analyse and interpret financial information and monitor sales and profits
            • Communicate with customers (welcome them in the facilities, address their complaints, find solutions to problems, offer information etc.)
            • Deal with maintenance issues, shortages in staff or equipment, renovations etc.
            • Collaborate with external parties such as suppliers, travel agencies, event/conference planners etc.
            • Inspect facilities regularly and enforce strict compliance with health and safety standards
            • Assured the Standards and Protocol are always respected
            • Liaise with the HR department to organise staff and managers’ appraisals with the help of the Hotel Manager and/or Operations Director
