9 THINGS TO DO IN TAGHAZOUT (THAT AREN’T SURF OR YOGA)

Thursday 26th June 2025

Taghazout is for sure famous for its surfing. It’s also slowly becoming known for its burgeoning yoga scene. But take it from us… there’s heaps of cool stuff today besides riding waves or rolling out the mat.

You might never have surfed or downward-dogged in your life and still have an epic time here. And with the town constantly changing and new places opening up, it looks like the list of things to do in Taghazout just keeps growing.

Planning on visiting Taghazout?

Keep this page handy on your next trip.

You’ll be able to explore like a local from the get-go!

9. CATCH THE SUNSET AT ANCHOR POINT

Anchor Point isn’t just for experienced surfers or salty shred lords.

In the evening, it transforms into one of the best places in Taghazout, Morocco, to watch the sun dip into the sea.

Palm trees silhouette against the sky as the waves roll in endlessly. And it’s only a short stroll from the main road out of town.

If you’re staying in one of the many hostels or boutique accommodations (hey… that’s us!), you’ll likely pass fellow travellers migrating there in the afternoons.

It’s a favourite for anyone visiting this magical town.

8. browse clothes & finds in agadir or anza

From handmade rugs to jewellery and leather sandals, the markets in Agadir and Anza are ideal for a little shopping.

Well worth a visit even if you’re not in the mood to splurge. The souks here are laid back and genuinely welcoming. You’ll find everything from modern Moroccan fashion to vintage shirts and handmade ceramics. Perfect for gifts or just something for yourself.

Agadir and Anza are easy to reach by car or taxi. So if you’re not up for surfing or in the mood to shop, browsing these textile and clothing markets is an epic little respite.

7. sip mint tea at cafè Berbere

An original gem tucked behind the main road overlooking the ocean, Café Berbere has one of the most chill terrace spots in the village.

Perfect for a quiet pause and just enjoy the dreamy rhythm of Taghazout.

You’ll often find locals chatting softly while sipping tea. Not to mention… the view over Hash Point is low-key stunning!

6. START YOUR DAY WITH COFFEE AT RED CLAY OR TEA POTS

If you’re not staying with us, easing into the day and fuelling up for a trip to Paradise Valley?

Head to Red Clay Vegan Cafe or Teapot and start out on the right foot. Both cafes boast strong coffee, fresh smoothies and the kind of vibe that makes them everyone’s favourite place.

You’ll find a mix of travellers from surf camps, digital nomads and locals hanging around these eateries.

Word of warning… don’t be surprised if you stay longer than planned.

5. lunch local from amouage to bbq’d market finds

For lunch, options in Taghazout village are endless.

You can sit beachside at Surf Maroc’s Amouage for fresh bowls and salads, head to Le Spot for something quick and cheerful or dive into real local life: buy fresh fish or meat at the market in the square and get it grilled on the spot!

While there are many restaurants to try, Surf Maroc puts on a good Feast night on Mondays and Thursdays. It’s a highlight of any visit.

Hit us up at the Surf Maroc shop when you arrive in Taghazout. We’ll happily point you in the right direction!

4. dine with a view

Sunset sees the sky fire up with brilliant reds, oranges and yellows. It also heralds the start of dinner time in Taghazout.

If you’re seeking an evening meal spot with a great view.

The Hyatt Regency Taghazout and Fairmont Taghazout Bay both offer world-class dining you’ll find on the coast. But for something more casual, Munga serves up pizza and cocktails with character.

Whether you’re craving a local tajine, seafood or a glass of wine, the many hotels and restaurants here always deliver (including Amouage).

3. wander the marketS

If you’re planning a day trip or stocking up your room with snacks and fruit, don’t miss the markets in Tamraght, Anza and Agadir.

They’re mostly fresh produce (think oranges, herbs, local dates), but you’ll also find street food like kefta sandwiches and tagines for one.

Take the public bus, hop in a shared taxi for 10 dhs or just stroll if you’re nearby.

The markets are a dynamic and colourful place. And a welcome contrast to the otherwise chilled-out beach life.

2. Hike to Taghazout skate park for crazy beautiful views

High above Taghazout’s beaches is one of the coolest spots in the entire town: a hillside skatepark delivers seriously amazing views and epic moments!

It’s lively and kind of wild (in a good way) at sunset, but peaceful earlier in the morning.

Bring a camera, watch the skaters and let the breeze do its thing. This is a fantastic place to end your day!

1. Get active with the locals

Beyond the surf, there’s horseback riding along Panorama Beach, spontaneous football games in village corners and adventurous options like jet skis or wingfoiling.

Prefer downtime?

Treat yourself with a massage at the A Spa (see SPA price list).

Whether you want to relax or move… this part of Morocco is down for whatever you want!

Things to do in Taghazout FAQ’S

Q. What’s the best way to get to Taghazout?

The easiest way is to fly into Agadir Airport, which is 45 minutes away.

From there, you can take a taxi, public bus or rent a car for more flexibility. Note that we offer airport pickups as part of your room & breakfast or surf & yoga experiences.

Q. Is Taghazout good for beginners or just experienced surfers?

Both! While Anchor Point attracts experienced surfers (which may not be right for you), there are plenty of mellow breaks perfect for newcomers.

It’s one of the most welcoming spots on the Moroccan coast to learn and catch waves no matter your abilities.

Q. Where should I stay? Hotel, hostel or something else…

There are many hotels, hostels, boutique hotels and stays like Surf Maroc. It depends on your budget and your standard of comfort.

Looking for a stylish room with a pool and spa? Amouage is up your alley. Keen for a more relaxed social space? Our Taghazout Villa is perfect. Or are you looking for a more secluded retreat? See Villa Mandala, for the yogis.

Q. What else is there to do besides surf and yoga?

Plenty!

Think horseback riding, exploring Paradise Valley, discovering nearby markets, joining a fitness class or simply unwinding on a rooftop terrace.

Q. Is Taghazout busy or more laid-back?

It depends on the season. All in all it’s super chill, but peak summer and over the main swell months it’s got a nice little buzz.

You’ll find pockets of energy along the main road, cafes and beaches, especially in the evenings, but the overall feel is calm and unhurried. In our opinion, this magical town knows how to move at just the right pace.

Q. What’s the food scene like?

From fresh fish to vibrant Moroccan cuisine, Taghazout has it all!

There are many restaurants with local dishes, international bites and even great veggie options. You can eat right by the sea, grab street food or chill at cafes between surf, yoga or adventure sessions. The choice is yours!

One thing you won’t be is hungry.

Q. Can you include Taghazout in a bigger Morocco trip?

Absolutely. It fits seamlessly into a Morocco itinerary so long as you have the time. If you’re looping through Marrakech and Agadir, it’s a must-visit. Honestly (and yes… we’re biased), it’s the perfect place to slow down after the cities and soak in the beauty of the Moroccan coast.

Final thoughts

Taghazout is more than just surfing and yoga!

It’s slow mornings, golden evenings, epic meals and ultra fun adventures. It’s a place that feels easy the moment you arrive. In fact, the only problem we have with it is that it’s so hard to leave!
