New Year, New Boards!

Wednesday 21st February 2018

To make sure that our guests are receiving the best surf experience with Surf Maroc, we’re constantly checking our surfboard stock to make sure our range is full and high quality. Recently, we’ve refreshed our soft top board range and brought in a few hand-shaped longboards.

To tell us more, we got Iliass (one of our surfboard gurus) to talk us through one of our new longboards.

Name: Fahd Hand-Shaped Board

Details: Single Fin – Square Tail – Longboard

Length: 9’2”

Perfect wave: Small/medium – head height is perfect

Perfect spot: Imsouane Bay

“Knowing the history of longboarding, square tails were considered as a nose riding surfing asset. The California square tails are designed to be true all-around basic nose riders that you can surf anywhere. The modern-day single fin has retained all the good points of the 1960’s shapes and culled the bad points. This has made way for a longboard, like this, with added turning/trimming abilities that’s lighter to further increase performance, as well as a wider nose to allow for a more stable length and profile to suit the best conditions.

This board’s single fin square tail design is the easiest to surf, as it’s got less fin resistance than the more progressive 3 fin designs. It’s actually quicker in trimming, which is assisted by an unusually flatter rocker (or bottom curve) than the three fin set up. But if turned hard enough from the tail, it may spin out! This board has the most popular tail shape with an increased surface area leaving more tail area to pivot off. This board best suits small to medium sized waves that are standard/large width for the decreasing tail width – it’s a really great set up for a fun day in Imsouane!”

News Flash – Soft Board Donations!

There’s no better feeling than getting people surfing for the first time, and with beginner waves and surf coaching all year around at Surf Maroc, we refresh our soft board stock annually. But as we bring in the new, we don’t forget about the old! This year we proudly donated our old soft boards to kids learning to surf in local town Anza, as well as foundations in Tifnit and Douria.

We’re always looking for surfing equipment to donate to local children. If you have anything you wish to donate, please bring them along with you on your next trip, or get in touch!
